Unused/idle/backup SATA 3.5 drives, how to store ?
« on: December 02, 2007, 01:54:05 am »

I made the switch from FireWire to Sata about year ago and get a small
mountain of spare SATA ( 3, 5 inch ) internal drives .

What I do now is put those backup drives ( about 30 right now )
in original ant electrostatic bags and keep those in shoe boxes .

Anyone with more professional looking / better solution .
I remember years ago someone on RG forums had solution made in molded foam thing ..

PS ,
I keep 10 of currently used  SATA drives in 2 Sonnet SATA towers ,
backup / idle  drives are kept off site .

OK , I came to conclusion that any case with custom adjustable foam insert would work .
Drives are quite heavy, but pelican cases even more heavy ,
so I will probably go with no name aluminium cases ..

Thanks for pointing me into this direction Ed !
