I can't remember the model, but after surveying the possibilities, my wife bought the Canon with IS. It's tiny and hard to fault results. She finds it really handy with very satisfying results, and after owning a studio for nearly two decades, she's certainly discriminating. It wouldn't be my choice for general landscape because I find the manual controls awkward, but as the general purpose pocket camera you seek, it should do very well. And the IS had proven very effective.
