installing ACR updates
« on: September 18, 2007, 11:11:21 am »

Greetings,

I am having some trouble with my Adobe Updater. I have two computers, and it worked perfectly on my desktop, but it's not working on my laptop. This is the Camera Raw 4.2 update, among others, and it starts to install the ACR update, and then the progress bar just stops at about 25%.

I have deleted and re-downloaded the updates, restarted the computer, etc.

Has anyone else had any trouble with this? Any suggestions? I'll call Adobe next, of course.

The desktop is a dual-G5 and the laptop is a Macbook intel-chip.

Thanks,
Ken

Ken,
You can download Camera Raw 4.2 from Adobe [a href=\"http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3729]here[/url]. You can then perform the update manually. Scroll down  to Installation Instructions, it's very easy to follow.

I do wish Adobe would build a simple installer however. How hard can that be?

I agree, it would take less than  1/2 hour on Mac OS X and not much more on Windows!

Thanks. Installing the 4.2 update manually did the trick. Still not sure why the Adobe Updater isn't working properly, but that's okay.

Good to hear that the manual install went OK. FWIW, I have always installed ACR "manually".
