Breakthroughs in Image Resizing
« on: September 01, 2007, 03:39:43 pm »

I am wondering if anyone has seen this work as depicted in the video.  It is a program that uses a set of complex  algorithms for resizing images.  I am not sure how complex this might be to put into as a PS plug

Mark:

One of the creators of the scene-carving algorithm works now for Adobe.

Eric,

Which page is yours on? I don't see one that I would describe as "waterfall".

Of course, I know that any photograph by someone named Eric must be a great photo.

Yes, that's right! Page 4, Figure 5. It was my first visit to the Northern California coast and I had to visit.   A few months ago my former office-mate Ariel asked me for some images to try with some "new image resizing method" he and a colleague were working on. I didn't know at the time what a big splash it would make at SIGGRAPH. (Ariel is the 2nd author of the paper.)

Nice photo, Eric.

Although the seam-removal scheme seems quite nifty, I do prefer your original (at the top) to any of the three variants.
