Holiday Backups
« on: December 22, 2007, 04:39:14 pm »

While I'm here, going through the 2005 CDs, and copying to my HD, and then, burning everything ( and sorting, organizing better than I did back then ) into brand new DVDs, I was wondering how many other people do this, and from how many time to how many time...

For me, this is my Holiday Backup time, where I review what's been on storage for too long for the media to be trusty, and update. I adopted that 2 years is the most I'll trust the average CD ( something proven right, as 10% of the CDs I'm copying faulted me... and all burned in trusted branded media, such as SONY, BASF, etc ). Also, a good thing I always burn a mirror of every backup disk, so, once one proved faulty, all I had to do was look at it's twin.

At least, that's how I do. Since I'm here looking at burning and verification progress bars slowly growing, I felt it would be a nice idea to vent a bit, share the practice and hear ideas and suggestions
