It'll be interesting to see if their new demosaicing algorithm is really any better or just some marketing fluff.

Exactly.

They were not so bad until now, but their engine had a tendency to be less detailed than the best competitors IMHO.

They may have been less detailed, but ACR throws up lots of artifacts and false colour...I too am waiting to see if this is finally the version that makes it worth buying. It has been promising for so long, but not quite delivering.

Well, at least they have implicitly recognised the fact that their demosaicing has not been tops. This has been  one of the main issues keeping me from using DXO as my main full time converter. Also the program's inability to use dual screens and the sluggish screen rendering.

Let's see what they come up with.

Interesting indeed. Even with the drawbacks, I have found DXO to deliver the best looking image for the final product. If they have improved it, that would be a must buy for me. These people have something very good going. I do know what you mean about the fine detail at 100% viewing but the perceivable detail in the finished product whether it be print or screen still looks better in the DXO version to my eyes.
