if you are concerned that you will be "stranded" with a phase back....you should definitely consider a H3D, which will provide happiness for decades to come.....

but i would check with last years hasselblad buyers who can't fit the 28 on their cameras, but i guess you would blame phase for that as well.....

If you want to use the 28MM lens you can upgrade your H2D to an H3D for 1000 euros.

which does not help me if i bought a H2/P45 a year ago with no indication whatsoever that i would not be able to use future lenses with my camera.....and i am pretty sure that at that point H2s outsold H2Ds at least 1:10 BECAUSE people wanted phase or leaf backs with their cameras.....

now everybody knows that the H system is closed and that you have to make a decision BEFORE you buy wether to go with hasselblad all the way or only with a hasselblad body.....

all this is hasselblads right and everybody can make their own decision....

I  really don't think it's a tenable, long term business model to be in the business of selling $30,000 digital backs to photographers and advising them to go buy a used camera, lenses and accessories for the back on eBay or from some guys in Hong Kong(MOST of whom are honest)?
[a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=112071\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a]

Actually why not?   We shot film cameras for 10 years and routinely ran $30,000 to $50,000 of film and processing through them every 12 months.

Still, there are other options than the Hasselblad and the not yet being sold HY6, so I don't understand what the panic about camera bodies is about.

Even with the mad rush to Contax where dealers like KEH has limited supply I can still go online and in one day have every body and lens contax sold and even at inflated prices, for thousands less than a Hasselblad H system  and probably many thousands less than the HY6.

I can promise you if Phase sold a digital back to every Contax, RZ, Mamiya 645 and Hasselblad H owners they would be doing quite fine.

Still, if you want the straight, honest story on Phase I suggest you talk to either Chris Lawrey ro Dave Gallagher at Capture Integration in Atlanta.

I live in NY, work in LA, have a second studio in Dallas and can buy from anyone in the world and when buying Phase, Dave's group is in my opinion head and shoulders above every Phase dealer in the nation.

For Leaf or Hasselblad you will also get great honest service form Steve Hendrix, also in Atlanta.

Must be something in the water.

I agree with you completely about Steve Hendrix and Dave Gallagher. My guess as to the reason why Steve Hendrix and Dave Gallagher are both in Atlanta is because one or the other was in Atlanta first, and if the guy representing the other MFDB maker(s) was to have a prayer of selling a back, he had to be as good as his competition. If you sell backs in NYC and your competition is Calumet, you have a lot of low hanging fruit given the quality of your competition.

This was before the rate increase. As of April 2, 2007 a H2D 39 to H3D 39 now costs $13,000.

Cliff,

I have been quoted $5,000 to upgrade my H1D to a H3D 31 or $10,000 for 39.  They said when I was ready they may be able to do it for less if I purchase a 28mm.

Can you meet or beat that?

Nope, I sure can't. That's the old pricing. If your dealer will still honor that quote, do it now right now.

I wanted everyone to see what Dave Gallagher just posted on our blog from the International Phase One Dealer Meeting.  It will show you what Phase One will be releasing in the next few months.

Thanks for that,Chris but v4.0 LE only in Q3 is a bit of a disappointment.
That's gotta mean that it will be a stretch for v4.0 Pro to make it much before the end of the year.

It's tough to see from the screenshots but are there any major changes in C1 that can
be reported on without compromising any NDA's?

Please tell me they,at least, have a chromatic aberration control slider built in somewhere :>))
Throw a bone to us lowly dslr users!

Chris,

Any updates on the shipment schedule of the Plus backs for various mounts? And will current P series owners who paid the Plus price (and received a "regular" non-Plus back in the meantime pending shipment of the Plus backs) just be sent the new backs when available or is there a queue we should be getting in? (I bought my P30 from you guys)
