Acquiring the background image of a video

Hi everybody, I am a university student and I am studying a a Matlab project. I have acquire the background image of a video that has moving object in it. Maybe a car thats passing in front of a building, I have to delete the car and get the image of building. What can I do for this? thnx for your valuable helps
