Epson 3800 PC Driver update of 07/02/07

Dear Printing Associates,
Epson has posted a PC driver update as of 07/02/07, see below- this is for the Epson Pro 3800 printer with K3 inks. Also, I checked the Macintosh choices and there is no 07/02/07 update for those:

Remote Panel Utility v3.30
Windows Vista 64-bit Edition, Windows Vista 32-bit Edition, Windows XP, Windows XP 64-bit Edition, Windows 2000
epson12306.exe - 6.6MB - posted on 07/02/07
  This self-extracting file contains the Epson Stylus Pro 3800 Remote Panel Utility v3.30 for Windows XP, XP 64-bit Edition, 2000 and Vista 32-bit and 64-bit Editions. This file self-extracts to your hard drive and is placed in C:\epson\epson12306_pro38_lfp_remote_panel_330.
This utility can be used to perform firmware updates, bi-directional and uni-directional alignments, nozzle checks, cleanings and custom paper settings.

Thanks! As I understand it, this is only an update for the LFP Remote Panel, but not for the actual printer driver itself. Do you know what the update contains?

Eric,
I am also a little puzzled by this update - I just found it a few minutes ago and have not installed it. I actually think that I already have the Remote Panel Utility v3.30 and it was working fine on my system, but I do not recall if I could vary the "custom paper settings" from this panel, as the Epson site states for this driver update.  I will install this update later tonight at home, as I wish to keep my drivers current. If anyone else installs it prior, do post your findings for us all,

If anyone bought their printer recently, check your LFP Remote Panel version before upgrading. I got my printer in early March and it came with ver. 3.3

It seems that Epson provide download versions of new firmware and other software long after they actually ship with new printers.

Thanks Lars; this sounds reasonable. Again, I was puzzled because I thought I already had that panel, but I'll confirm all the features mentioned in the update, and I did buy my 3800 printer recently, late April as I recall.  Does the LFP panel thing show the version 3.3 on yours and where do you confirm that version(I am not at home right now with my 3800) ??

Hi Debra,
on Windows, open Windows Explorer, go to C:\Program Files\EPSON\EPSON LFP Remote Panel and you will find a Epson LFP Remote Panel.exe file. Just hold the mouse pointer over it and the description says version 3.30.

EDITED:  I verified I have version 3.3, as you suggested. The update is most likely as you said, for people who purchased prior to April, 2007. Thanks !

I purchased a 3800 this week.  I just checked and I have version 3.3 - and I use a Mac.
