That's sea foam. Hunting Island is an amazing place, Richard Bernabe turned me on to it. The erosion is so rapid there it is putting mature forest into the ocean. 15 feet a year!

Constructive criticism is fine...no problem with the photographer reading what others thought. We just all have to have the confidence in our own work, and the understanding that not everyone will like what we do.

And if some nut doesn't like your stuff, or rips on you, who cares? He's probably some lurker maniac who doesn't even own a camera! You didn't take these photos for these other anonymous random hacks on here...you took them for yourself.

Anyway, that's my two cents. Now go ahead and rip on my photos!

Thanks Eric. Nice of you to comment. The former is Owen Sound Ontario harbour last Sunday. The latter is a place called Half Way Rock, and is located on Georgian Bay, almost to the top of the Bruce Peninsula. The site is rugged but easy enough to get to. Love it. If you want to go there at any time, let me know and I will provide specific directions.

Yeah it's good fun to see the quite random and different shots. The Zion wide angle below is really special with foreground, middle and back ground and nice light as is Brents alnonymous naturephotos, where are they from ??

Tim - take the highway to Emmett Lake Road, which skirts along top of the First Nation Hunting Grounds. You will eventually come to a sign that indicates Half Way Dump sidetrail. Park in the lot and take the trail to the shore. The Bruce Trail continues along the cliffs overlooking the shore to the northwest.

Don't go when the horse flies are out. You will find that this particular piece of shore is much more deserted than the Cypress Lake park road.

It is one of my favourite spots on earth. Have fun!

You're welcome Eric! You won't be disappointed with the Bruce - it's a unique biosphere, from the Huron side to the Georgian Bay side. Remarkable.

Could you give somewhat more detailed directions? I have the Ontario map issued by the Tourist Board and none of the areas you cite are listed. I have been to Bruce several times and it is a remarkable place. Just as a note of interest to readers of this post: the Niagara escarpment (which runs through the Bruce peninsula) was a barrier reef, predating the Jurassic age (dinosaurs) and started south of the equator!

Click the map link on the left frame. Choose detailed map 600K

Find Cypress Lake and then follow the map south to Emmett Lake Road.

You will find halfway log dump road. Now you know where it is.

Take Highway 6 north from Wiarton until you get to Emmett Lake Road, turn right, follow the road until you see the sign to the north for Halfway Log Dump. Follow that road and park in the lot. You will need 9$ cash for parking. Take the trail to the shore and walk NW. Climb over the first large outcropping of rock and observe the 1000 year old trees with trunks the size of quarters. The next pile of huge boulders is where I took the picture. This area is best seen in the rain.
