Tehachapi Hills
« on: November 21, 2023, 09:11:37 am »

From my recent walkabout experience. I love the way the setting sunlight cascades over the hills and casting long shadows through the trees. Yet, I am struggling with this and posting for critique; perhaps I can get unstuck!

i would cut the top portion horizontally  starting at about where the first hill enters the frame in the upper left. Seems more balanced and my focus goes to the bright and shadow central portion.

A bit dark on the top of the frame but I like the diagonals and also the bright colors of the sunlit areas.
Well done.

I think the shadows are too dark.  I would like to see the same image with this corrected.

The second version is an improvement, in my opinion (worth not much, of course).
I like both versions so bravo again!

Thank you for the help, all! I think the crop (16:9) helped attenuate the dominance of the upper dark are; I was also able to lift a little detail out of those deep shadows. Same for the lower right corner. I was also able to correct some of the color casts in certain areas. Thanks again; sometimes you know something is wrong, but you're not quite sure what it is.
