Serra da Estrela Natural Park, Portugal - part 1
« on: April 21, 2023, 10:16:35 am »

My latest trip was a visit to the Serra da Estrela Natural Park, in the center of Portugal. I spend 4 days there with my wife, doing some trails and visiting historical villages. A wonderful region. Here is part 1 of the trip, in the city of Guarda:

Paulo,

This is among your best posts, both for the imagery and the textual content. Good that you had overcast skies with nice clouds in many of the photos.

Why did you constrain the tower of the cathedral? A little breathing room would have been nice.

Thank you Paulo,

The Main Square,... so happy to see almost no signs related to tourism.

Indeed, seems almost as if it was, so many years ago.

Thanks Rajan. About the tower, that was a limitation of only having a 16mm lens on APSC. My back was against the wall of a house, I could not fit more room around the cathedral. There is only a lot of room in front of the cathedral, in the main square; on the other 3 sides, one needs a wider lens.

Thanks. As far as tourism goes, normally the interior of the country only sees crowds during the summer months, when the emigrants come back during their vacations.

Really excellent and interesting, Paulo. I have a couple of friends visiting Portugal right now, and they are sending me pictures of the places they visit. Makes me want to go there myself someday.
