Photoshop and the cloud
« on: March 08, 2023, 09:36:57 am »

Is there a way to make PS forget about the cloud? I don't use it, local storage only, but PS is always asking me to save on the cloud, open from the cloud, etc. Thanks.

It's an absolute PITA. I recall an option to turn it off in a previous version, but that seems to have gone currently.

<Investigates further>

Seems that the option to set the default save location as the local system gets lost on some upgrades to v2023

If you uninstall and reinstall via the creative cloud desktop app, the option gets reinstalled on a new install. Then you can just set "on your computer" as the default save location in Edit/preferences/File handling...

Yes, of course, in your Preferences>File Handling. You can totally avoid saving or using the Cloud. I have this default (but can override) to the desktop:

Yes, of course, in your Preferences>File Handling.
That's fine if it's there.
Peter and I aren't the only ones to find that option disappeared on the latest update and have had to re-install to return it. (See Adobe tech support forums for others with the same problem)

The screen capture provided is from the latest update. On macOS.
I could show you the same in the latest beta, but I'd get in trouble.  ;)

Peter and you? I must have missed that on Peter's behalf:

I saw the above, answered the question as correctly as I thought possible.  ;)

Can confirm Andrew Rodney's advice.  I'm running Photoshop 24.2.0 on Mac.  In Preferences/File Handling, set Default File Location from Creative Cloud to On My Computer.

I deleted an earlier post due to incorrect information.  So with no guarantee that this will work:
Does deleting the Camera Raw Preferences help?
On PC Goto Edit>>Preferences  then hold down Ctrl>>Camera Raw.  A dialogue window should open asking if you wish to trash Camera Raw preferences; click Yes then close and reopen PS.  Hopefully you may get back the missing option in file handling to save on your computer
