problem connecting z3200 to Mac desktop
« on: January 29, 2023, 10:51:32 am »

I recently got a lightly used HP z3200 and I'm attempting to connect it to a 2013 Mac Pro, running OS 10.14.   I downloaded the driver for this version of Mac OS, HP Click, and HP Designjet Utility.  But the computer doesn't 'see' the printer--when I attempt to add the printer, it doesn't appear in either the Designjet Utility or the Mac Printers/scanners settings.  I've restarted the computer (and the printer)

The ethernet cable is fine--I've switched it with a new one.  And the ethernet switch is fine.

I don't have access to the original setup disks, but I have downloaded and installed all the relevant software I can locate on the HP support site.

Any suggestions are eagerly welcomed!

thanks,

Problem partly solved:  apparently the universal driver that HP now provides for the printer allows ONLY usb connection. I much prefer ethernet, especially since the printer is a bit more than 15' from the computer.  Does anyone know how I could get a copy of the original driver for the z3200?

thanks,

Unplug the USB cable.

Using ethernet cable connect the printer to your cable modem/router.
Next connect your Mac to that modem/router.
Now see if Printesr/Scanners see's the printer.
You may have to restart all the above devices.

Any luck?

Also:  HP Designjet Utility is by far my preferred method of printing.
