Early Autumn Ferns
« on: October 21, 2022, 02:23:58 pm »

What initially drew my eye to this scene, was the almost waterfall like way, that the ferns seemed to be flowing down through this small area of woodland. But I didn't think the shot would come out, due to the light levels being so low under the canopy of trees, as well as the overcast skies and the wind blowing everything around as much as it could. So I had no other choice than to underexpose it by at least four stops, to get a fast enough shutter speed to freeze it and just hope for the best and shoot it handheld.

I think the vertical vines dominate the image.
But whatever, a great picture.

Oh how I wish we did have hanging vines here in Scotland Dale, but alas no, they are just straggly thin trees growing upwards, rather than vines hanging down.

Although I do agree they do look a lot like vines don't they?

Simply superb. The way you composed and processed this image makes it look like you found a secret place with golden ferns.
Bravo!

Glad you are all enjoying these handheld images I am doing recently. Which is not something I normally do at all, but the wind has been a bit fierce up here this year Autumn, so no point getting the tripod out and just bump up that iso, way, way beyond my comfort zone instead  ;)
