A serious man, undoubtedly!
Quite. He was sitting on the veranda of
the Palace of the Governors in the Santa Fe Plaza, where every day Native American vendors sell arts and crafts.* This well-dressed dude did have some handicrafts spread out in front of him on a blanket, but during the time I was watching he demonstrated little interest in attracting buyers. It occurred to me that he might be a security guard who was keeping a wary eye out for sticky-fingered tourists—hence the subject line of this post—but that could have been my overactive imagination. Probably he was just bored. A couple of other vendors I snapped that day were more animated:
