Epson p5000 suddenly taking forever to print
« on: July 02, 2021, 04:20:56 am »

Hey all,

My p5000 has suddenly started doing this weird thing, where it makes 5 or 6 passes and then the head stops in its normal locked position for about 30 seconds before continuing. This repeated for the entire printing process.

It took about 25 minutes to print a 16x20, as opposed to 7 minutes before.

I've changed nothing except updated my computer recently. What could be causing this? It's connected by USB. Had this printer for a couple of years, never seen this happen.

Any ideas??
Thanks in advance!

I've had problems printing via Ethernet to a P5000 from a Mac.  Solved by re-starting the Mac or restarting the wifi repeater - possibly due to too many images open in Photoshop thus using causing memory problems or just a wonky wifi connection.  But you're connected by USB.  I would have thought that the first thing to check is the USB cable.  I had problems with a 3880 which was caused by the USB cable failing - but there only part of the image was printed before the printer spat out the paper.  So I would first re-start your computer and then see if a different USB cable solves it.

Good luck.
