Epson 3880 Repairs
« on: June 07, 2021, 05:27:53 pm »

Hello. My Epson 3880 has been great up until recently with black ink on corners and/or sides of print. From posts I've seen on this machine it may be a faulty Ink Selector Valve or a damaged Ink Damper.  Anyone know of a reliable repair shop in the Toronto area that can fix this problem? I don't ever print Matte photos. Many thanks.

This does not sound like an ink selector problem.
On mine the complete cartridge emptied into the maintenance tank.

My experience with repairing the 3880 printer for an ink selector problem was that they replaced the ink delivery system and then found the damper system was gone and replaced that too. Possibly the pump may need replacing also. Then it uses half a complete set of inks to reprime.

I would sell it for the value of the ink and get a new P800 or later.

My Epson 3880 has been great up until recently with black ink on corners and/or sides of print.
It could also just need a full clean inside; head wiper and capping station. Not very difficult to do yourself if you don't mind a bit of DIY, there are a couple of videos on YT to help too.
Have a look at this thread https://forum.luminous-landscape.com/index.php?topic=105109.0

If you don't want to try that I think Bob's advice is good.
