Canon 1D MKIII, whats missing ?
« on: May 08, 2007, 09:33:12 am »

As I have a background in electronics, and then added photography (digital) to
the list of hobbies. I shoot primaryly nature with a MK IIN. I'am not about
to upgrade anytime soon, but when that day arrives I wold like  to have a few
things sorted out (CANON):

- button for mirror lockup. Should Canon users collect an adress that we insist
  on having it ?

- as I understand you can use an external usb-hdd as backup memory like
using a digital image bank, but you need to buy the transmitter/adapter ?

- TC-80N3 Timer Remote, most of its functions should be incorporated in the
cameras firmware (just a pice of software)

- as optics is going to limit the pixel-count in a near future, and processing power
is going to exceed the needs. The camera body is built like a tank and lasts
for many years. Why not be  able to change sensor as needed ?
Lesser pixels = more fps and greater sensitivity
  IR sensor
Would aso make sensor cleaning easier, when it is outside the camera.
Many options, elctronics is not the obstacle here.

- programmed mode to make stacked photos for deeper dof = lenses that provide
distance information coud be driven step by step focusing from closest to longest
to get the desired amount of dof. Of course it has to be supported in software too.

- make Zigview useless by having a flipping screen, also the ability to press the
shutter on movement, as livewiev is there already

- square image sensor = no need for portrait grip (as batterys are getting smaller)

- take power from the cameras battery to the flash. There is enough power for a
lot of flash shooting if the camera can take 2000 on a single charge. The result
one charger less, and just one type of batteries

- electronic "water-level" as it is a wery small device and consumes wery little
power (quite cheap too). And as not to missunderstand me put indicators in
  the viewfinder too!

- as GPS devices are getting cheaper and smaler, having one on board and
you coul incorporate position when shot

- last but not least, ability to have one screen with fast access to different
camera setting ( cheeper cameras call thise modes). Example when shooting
nature on tripod using one setup,  then something unecspected happens a
moving animal or something, well now you can relax becouse before you had
taken even the camera from mirror look-up not to talk about all the other
settings the only thing left is just some setteling dust an missed it - feeling.
after the animal is just some dust.

Well quite a long story but my point is it used to be the photographers
knowledge an experience and lots of try/error to master some techniques and
get some scenes recorded properly. Please don't missunderstand me, there
is now substitute for experience and skill. But a modern camera shuold be able
to solve many things from the past and allow new doors to unseen things to be
opened by the manifacturers.

Come on Canon it is time to kick som competitors to the last century !

Thank you for reading,

but now I think it is time to
