Lovely lighting in both of those, Paulo. You are lucky to live near such a place.

+1, and I like the long exposure image of that beach on your blog.

Another lovely post. I've been to Cascais (when it is usually a zoo).

Again, thanks everyone. Unfortunately, the serra de Sintra, which can be seen in the background, is off limits these days, because it is not allowed to move between different municipalities during confinement.

Is that the reason Portugal is doing so well in the Covid-statistics these days? They seem to have tackled the problem.

Is that the reason Portugal is doing so well in the Covid-statistics these days? They seem to have tackled the problem.

Only part of it. 2 months ago we were one of the worst countries in deaths/100,000 people, due to lack of confinement pre-Christmas time. In November, when the third wave was plain to see, the government chickened out and did not confine. Even worse, people were free to drive from the cities to the interior, thus spreading the virus and literally killing some of their family members... we had 16,000 cases a day, and up to 300 deaths a day, which is very high for our population of around 10 million.

So, in mid-January a confinement was again in place, which is now being lifted very carefully and in a phased manner, and with clear metrics in terms of cumulative new cases per 100,000 people in the last 14 days (below 120), and Rt below 1. We had so far around 16,000 deaths, half of those in January - February...
