Mountain Bluebirds at Roman Nose SP
« on: January 26, 2021, 04:45:57 pm »

We don't see Mountian Bluebirds in Oklahoma very often but there are quite a few this winter. Maybe the fires in the west have moved them our way. These are from Roman Nose State Park in western Oklahoma.

Good catch.
They look just like our eastern bluebirds, which are uncommon. I've never seen more than two at any one time.

Very nice.
We get these guys around here (Western Colorado) quite a bit in the summer months but not usually in groups like that! Typically they are in pairs or solitary. Maybe all of ours got together and headed to OK this winter.

The western half of OK is supposed to be the eastern edge of the Mountian Bluebird's winter range but we rarely see them here. This year they are thick and the local photographers are really enjoying them. I think the fires in the west have moved them our way. Now if you would just send us some of the Stellar's Jays.
