Dawning Storm
« on: January 02, 2021, 05:14:38 pm »

Often times, there is a somewhat low probability that we'll be in the right place at the right time. One of the things I've learned over the years is that increasing the probability of chance events drastically improves successful events. One of the key skills I've developed over the years is reading and predicting weather. Now, I still have what I consider to be a rudimentary skill in this department, however, events like these, where I drive three hours in the dark to get to a place I've never seen because the weather patterns look favorable for the morning seem to indicate I'm getting better at it, slowly but surely. Or maybe I just got lucky again, who knows. Shortly after this moment it started dumping snow as it's about 10 degrees F at the time of this shot.

Nice.

I find that if I drive three hours to a new place, it's always helpful to remember to bring a camera along!

With skills and luck combined, beautiful shots fill memory cards more quickly.

Bravo, perfectly executed!

Great shot!
I do this too but usually instead of a long drive it's a shorter drive and/or a long hike, bike, or ski.
It can sometimes be incredibly disheartening but when it comes together it is so sweet! :)

Yes that is what it is all about, the high points may be rare, but when they happen they are so good you always want more.

Great shot by the way Maddog and worth all the effort to be there I think  ;)

--- So the one I do is forget that I took my SD card out to transfer the photos to the computer... I literally carry a brick and all it's brick friends to the brink of insanity only to find... oops. No way to record the moment. Now I have back up cards all over my camera bags... I do it with the drone too.
