By Jeff ScheweI’ll be taking some personal time off this week for family reasons, so PhotoshopNews will have only spotty coverage. However, you -WILL- want to tune into PhotoshopNews this coming Friday, December 15th-I can say no more…
What I want to know is if CS3 is going to take advantage of 64-bit processing. But on top of that, I hope it doesn't have a limit on how much RAM it can access. I desperately need more than 2GB of RAM. Does anybody have any insight into this?[a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=90638\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a]
Someone told me max 8GB per application on Mac OSX10.4, but I have not checked that figure.
Windows Vista. With the new OS, the different 64-bit versions break down as follows for how much RAM they can utilize:Home Version - 8GBPremium - 16GBBusiness - 128+GBEnterprise - 128+GBUltimate - 128+GB[a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=90643\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a]
That's the total RAM for the OS, but isn't there a limitation for the amount of mem usable by each application?
Exactly. That's why I want/need Photoshop to be able to access more RAM. Up to this point, there's been two bottlenecks...the OS and Photoshop. With the new OS, that bottleneck will be aleviated, so Photoshop needs to follow suit or change it's architecture. So far, I haven't been able to locate any information as to what the specs are for CS3.[a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=90645\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a]
Sure, but I meant that there was possible a generic limitation to the amount of ram that can be allocated to a process in Vista. Or is there not?
