The fact is everyone left before violence broke out ...

That sounds like a Casey Stengel quote.

No one set up barriers and started shooting except the police.

Yeah... they were the ones being attacked by a violent mob engaged in an insurrection targeted at the U.S. Capitol and the elected members attempting to carry out their constitutional duties in the peaceful transfer of power. The insurrectionists did, however, set up a gallows out on the lawn and engage in a sustained and brutal assault on the police officers attempting to defend the Capitol and the elected representatives, senators, and vice president inside.

I think you mean Yogi Berra.  :)  The violence I was referring to would have been an armed attempt to actually seize the capital, not just trespass and make a nuisance out of themselves.  People who want to overthrow the government don't invade wearing bison horns.

Now if they did have arms stashed away, and had actually implemented a real plan, they are in big trouble.  Since they didn't actually implement the plan as far as we now know, I don't see how they could be charged with the worst act.  But they certainly would deserve to be charged with conspiracy by planning it if that happened and should go to jail for that.

Oh please.  They weren't charged with insurrection.  They trespassed damaged government property, sat on Nancy Pelosi's chair, etc. etc.   You're trying to accuse the whole bunch of stuff only ten people may have one.  You have to have the intent to commit insurrection to be criminally liable. The other 1000 rioted only.   The Democrats think this is their ace in the hole for the election.  They will talk it up through November.  But unless the economy reverses its downward trend and inflation stalls, they'll have a lot of problems keeping Congress.

It didn't look like they were there for a church picnic.

You are not alone in that observation, this just in:
Quote
The Justice Department unsealed seditious conspiracy charges against the leader of the far-right Oath Keepers group and 10 other people on Thursday, alleging they plotted to disrupt the electoral process at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 and endangered former Vice President Mike Pence.

The court papers said the defendants organized teams to use force and bring firearms to the Capitol, recruited members to participate, organized trainings and brought paramilitary gear, knives, batons and radio equipment to Washington.

That other loud sound was Alan's head exploding (again).

We know this, Captain Obvious. They were charged with seditious conspiracy.

Unlike you, we read and understand what was written.

Again, evidence he doesn’t understand the facts or the difference and has a severe reading comprehension issue.
As I predicted, that sound before he posted was his head exploding again.
He’ll put his foot in his mouth again, it is minutes away.

Just when Amerca has gotten pretty quiet regarding foreign adventures.  Did Biden pull us out of Afghanistan to get us into the Ukraine.  Let the Europeans deal with it. It's their neighborhood.  We're broke.

U.S. Considers Backing an Insurgency if Russia Invades Ukraine
Conversations about how far the United States would go to subvert Russia in the event of an invasion have revived the specter of a new Cold War.
For years, U.S. officials have tiptoed around the question of how much military support to provide to Ukraine, for fear of provoking Russia.

Now, in what would be a major turnaround, senior Biden administration officials are warning that the United States could throw its weight behind a Ukrainian insurgency should President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia invade Ukraine.

How the United States, which just exited two decades of war in Afghanistan, might pivot to funding and supporting an insurgency from fighting one is still being worked out. But even a conversation about how far the United States would go to subvert Russian aims in the event of an invasion has revived the specter of a new Cold War and suddenly made real the prospect of the beginnings of a so-called great power conflict.

Considering about 300 million cars in US and monthly fuel savings of $50 when you replace those ICE cars with EVs, US could save $15 billion by accelerated transition to EVs. You could buy a lot of AK47's and a squadron of jet fighters for that amount.

Maybe GM could sell them EV's and get their production over 25 units. Let the Europeans sell them jets. :)

It was mentioned a while ago in one of these posts, but hundreds are being investigated by the FBI. Your figure of 10 slightly misrepresents things.

If they were going to charge them with sedition, wouldn't they have included them with the ten?

But it really doesn't matter.  99% of the people there were just demonstrating about the election and then a few hundred got violent and rioted.  There was no sedition.  They didn't go there to overthrow the American government, especially that guy in the bison outfit.

Yes they were, that's what Trump told them to do. They just weren't very good at it. Like pretty much all of Trump's ventures.  :)

Well, the Democrats and Nancy Pelosi better hurry up and impeach him because they're about to lose the House in November.  Then House Republicans can impeach Biden for something they'll dream up like Ukraine collusion. Then Hunter Biden and the Trump kids could all go out and get drunk.  Oh, wait.  Hunter's on the wagon. :)

Can you provide some data on this please.  I find it hard to believe that you are saving $50 per month on transportation fuel when in every instance an household electric appliance cost more to operate that a gas/oil cousin.

And I would like to see an apples to apples comparison.  Similar style cars with similar house power, not comparing a hummer to a Tesla.

In my household, every household electric appliance has no cost to run, and I get a check from my electricty provider every month for power I generate and send back to them through the grid.
