Thanks folks.
My wife took this photo while trekking in the northern most parts of Pakistan, in the Balistan region.
The Himalayas, The Karakoram and the Hindu Kush mountain ranges merge together not far from here. The borders of the PRC, India and Pakistan meet not far from here.
Security is tight in this region, as expected. But not unduly cumbersome for foreign travelers.
The PRC and Indian armed forces had an incident, reported widely, also not much far from here.
About 1400 kms via one the old silk roads from here down south lies the Khyber Pass and Afghanistan.
500 kms by propellor plane ( weather permitting ), lies the airport of Peshawar. The landing strip in these parts is about a hundred kms below where my wife took this photograph.
Lovely, Generous, hospitable people..and unbelievable and barely traveled landscapes.
Arguably, one could say raw, hard, powerful beauty of nature in front of one's eyes.
Stay well.
