I've used Kaspersky Internet successfully for a number of years on my Windows 7 and Windows 10 desktop. My license allows MAC's to be protected as well. I bought my wife a Apple 21.5" iMac (Mid 2017) APMMQA2LLA and want to add Kaspersky to it. Any recommendations or problems? Thanks.

Here are specs for imac:
2.3 GHz Intel Core i5 Dual-Core
8GB of DDR4 RAM | 1TB Hard Drive
21.5 " 1920 x 1080 IPS Display
Integrated Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640

it is AV only on the MAC.
i have been running it on MACs for years without issue.
Now if you wife does work for any government agency, it is likely an issue for them as the Feds have banned K from use.

It shouldn't be an issue, shy of the Russian angle. I've got MalwareBytes on a number of Mac users, and it taps down any issue websites.

Last i remember, the other internet security functions available in windows version are not on the mac.
If that is important for the usage, then i would consider a different product. Depends on the user though.

I bought the Kaspersky Internet Security. Here's the link. I believe it covers the same protection for both Windows and iMAC, as well as mobile. Am I correct on this?

It looks like the have added features into the browsers where before the were running as a separate program.
Should be fine and similar, if not the same as on the pc. Did the name of the installer for mac start with “KIS...” or “KAV....” ?

I have tried installing it on the MAC yet. I just updated my Windows system. I've had good experience with Kaspersky over the last five years. So I figure it's good for the MAC.

Do the iMacs have a built in AV software from Apple? How good is it? Would I be better off leaving it, upgrading it with Apple, or switching to JKaspersky?

Slobodan, So I'm going to install Kaspersky into the iMac. Do you know if I have to delete any kind of Apple software during the process? I don't want conflicts or create a problem where I slow down the computer.

Not that I am aware of. Then again, I never felt the need for AV software on Mac.

AV is an old term that is really not used much anymore outside of old Windows users.

Malware is a much better term for crap that will do bad things on computers.

Malware Bytes is a product that offers a free and paid version. https://www.malwarebytes.com. On my Macs I use the free version and run it every day or two.

On my Macs and iPad, iPhone, etc. I also use a paid app 1Blocker from the Apple App Store. It keeps a lot of crap from websites doing things you don't want happening to you and your computer.
1Blocker ONLY works on the Safari Browser.

If you're a security nut like me you might also want to use DNSCrypt to limit who's seeing your DNS requests.

Mac is simply superior in every respect.

In all these years, since I switched to Mac, probably 10-15 years ago, I have never had any issue with viruses, malware, or any other crap. I don't know why you are obsessing. You have a Mac. Relax. It just works. Doesn't need daily babysitting like Windows.
