Finally there is PSB support in Lightroom 9.2, BUT...
« on: February 11, 2020, 03:15:47 am »

It's finally here! Just updated and tested it, PSB import works great....

However, the size limit (MP) is still there, so for me the whole thing is useless...

Yes indeed, it's only half baked ”support” so it will be interesting to see if the user base accept this well or as I predicted, not so much.

Quote
PSB file support
You can now import, catalog, and edit Large Document format (PSB) file in Lightroom Classic. PSB file in Lightroom Classic supports documents up to 65,000 pixels in long edge and a maximum dimension of 512 megapixels. Camera Raw 12.2 is required to use Lightroom Classic's Edit in Photoshop feature with PSB images.

Limited, but the size is large... 2m wide 300dpi  512 MP
If it can handle that in a layered fashion it is not that limited. I don't read anything about file size...
Will check it out.

Like all files within Classic, the maximum dimensions are 65,000 pixels on the long edge or 512 megapixels.
Layers? No. Not with LR edits.

But maybe a thumbnail will turn up in the catalogue?
Must say i do not use LR this way, so i don't care at the moment

From a layered document? Sure. You can catalog layered images. You can print from layered images too. It’s just when you go about editing them IN LR do you lose the layers of this newly created document should you render it.

Using a GFX 100 and smart object work flow... “Not so much.”

Andrew, Do you know if the size limit is a “hard stop” kind of problem, or a “willingness to do” problem?  Sorry for the inelegant way of asking the question.  Hope you can get the gist of my question, anyway.

I don't know the reasons for this limitation.
