Steelsring Nikon F - Fuji GFX Smartadapter
« on: January 07, 2020, 09:06:20 am »

Hello all, I just received the Steelsring adapter and now I can use my Nikon Lenses on the GFX and the 19mm TSE has the image circle to use the 100 MPX. The first short test shows that I can operate the f-stops from the body.

Good news on the 19mm.

Just wanted to make sure, you can adjust the F stop via the camera? on the 19mm, and don't have to freeze it at a stop on a nikon body first?

Thats great if true.

Hi Fraktal,

that's great news. Congratulations.
And now the inevitable question:
If can find the time - could you provide a test shot with the PC-E 19mm at full shift with image content right into the shifted corners? It would be very interesting to see how this lens compares to the TS-E 17mm.
That would be great.

A short test shows that even with maximum shift there is no hard vignetting whereas the Canon 24 mm 3,5 TSE II delivers dark corners at maximum shift using the Techart adapter. Realworld testshots hopefully this week Regards

Hi Fraktal
Did you have the time to test the 19 PC-E seriously?
Thanks,
Ben

Hi Ben, I have to wait for better weather. Last week I tried a sunrise timelaps with the sun in the middle of the frame the lens was fully shifted and there were strange artefacts (due to internal reflections ?) of the adapter because on the Nikon Z7 the lens shines. My high expectations of this combination are now somewhat compromised. It will take some further testing to draw founded conclusions. I'll keep you updated with my findings for shure.

Thanks Fraktal
I know, the 19 mm is great, I own also one.
Because Phase One won't produce a 44 x 33 BSI sensor, I am interested in other solutions.
At the moment I use an IQ 350 with the Rodenstocks.
Regards,
Ben

Hello again, a short test with the sun just reaching the horizon in the middle of the frame during a sunrise time-lapse showed, that for me the combination GFX100 + NIKON 19mm TS-E  with the Steelsring smart-adapter does not work due to internal reflections. The artifacts show only with some shift and are completely unacceptable with full shift. I guess, that one could apply some additional flocking at critical places of the adapter to make it work. So it is back to the Z7 for the 19mm TS and the GFX I will pair with the Canon TS lenses.
Cheers

This is bad new, especially for Steelsring.  :(
