Has anyone purchased the new Epson F570 dye sub printer?
« on: November 21, 2019, 08:47:36 pm »

Has anyone here purchased the new 24" F570 printer from Epson. Trying to find out if it will take the Dye Trans 24.8" roll.
I would need it to print 24.25 inches wide to make it a worthwhile backup printer for my dye sub operation.
My other issue is that it is CMYK and my converted P8000 is a 9 ink printer.
It may be easier to just get an Epson P6000 and convert it like my larger one.
They are just slightly over $2k which is a great price.
Refillable carts and ink add another thousand and that is still a bargain for a 24" dye sub.

I called Conde and Coastal and no one has tried a larger roll to date in the 570.
If it cannot print a 1/4" bleed over 24" then it is not a 24" printer in the dye sub world.
To print 24x24 or 24x36 you need the bleed.

I cannot answer your question regarding whether it will take the dye trans roll but personally I would not use just CMYK if you want high quality Chromalux prints. Maybe if you are using a good RIP which will give you control over GCR, dot size, linearization and very precise profiling it may be worth a shot (and if you have lots of time and patience). Otherwise 8 (or more) colours all the way.

I already have a 9 ink 44" dye sub printer and just wanted a F570 for a backup.
For some of the dog photography we print it would be fine.
