Agave Complementarity
« on: September 15, 2019, 12:26:09 pm »

While reading in Suler and Zakia about figure and ground, at the same time I was looking through some old photographs, and reworked this one from 2010. I noticed the complementarity between the thorns and (what may be residual?) impressions in the leaves. I got to thinking which becomes the figure and which the ground? Do they trade back and forth, depending on what the eye focuses upon? Anyway, thought I would post this and see if I could stir up any deep thoughts. :o ::)

I expected nothing less! But this is the wrong kind of agave, I think; more suited to mescal.

That's a wonderful landscape of the High Sierra Cactaceae. On its side.
