Evening Traffic
« on: August 08, 2019, 05:54:02 pm »

I have mixed feelings about this shot.  I like the convergence of the lines and the light but the story is pretty simple.
Any thoughts on this one?

It's a fine minimalist landscape. Quite effective.

Fantastic image. That "well of light" above the "bright line" of the road and how it moves across the frame - really great. As well, the color, color tonalities, and the subtlety of those tonalities. I'm not sure if this is from compression down to jpg - but there is a fair amount of radial banding in the sky I might double check (I'm seeing it in both Adobe RGB and SRGB on an Eizo). Kudos.

I think it’s stunning. I like it even better when I make it more horizontal. Looking at about a 2:1 ratio all on the bottom, it seems to me to amplify everything I like about the image (all horizontal lines) and loses nothing.

Thanks to all of you for your comments.  Shifting to the 8-bit jpeg did indeed 'posterize' the sky.  I will revisit that.
