Thank you all for an interesting discussion. Slobodan, I don't dislike your heavily vignetted black and white at all; it gives a very different feel to the shot. But I think it does need colour. I'm working on it - this is what I have so far.

If it were mine, I'd be tempted to darken the background just a bit more, not touching any of the fur.
