Quiraing, the Needle
« on: April 21, 2019, 07:14:40 am »

Skye again. Got up before 5 o'clock and drove to the Bealach Ollasgairte on the Trotternish Peninsula to photograph the dawn which was totally flat and boring with thick cloud on the horizon. The Old Man of Storr car park was full to overflowing along both sides of the road at 05:30 and there must have been more than 50 frustrated photographers perched on a hillside hoping for the killer shot that never happened. After a frustrating hour I went for a walk to see if I could get a shot. Scrambling up above the needle the sun finally broke through and I managed a few images.

Difficult light but both shots are very nice. I prefer the first one. To me, it's a more powerful image.
