I read it as a political thread and offered my contribution as if it was such.
My starting post was intended to be... stimulating, let's say. While not an overtly political picture, in this climate, especially when paired with the subject of the thread, the picture could easily be read as a political statement. "Political" photographs have certainly been made with less overt symbolism.
I followed up with an overtly political mini-essay, intended to provoke discussion or perhaps insight? I extracted it from a larger work I made some time ago (as noted) which was intended, as much as it was intended at all, to explain Americans to Europeans.
So, yeah, I intended it as a direct response to Jeremy's new policy on political discussion. I am intellectually disappointed, and emotionally pleased, to see that the tenor has remained largely apolitical. I trust and assume that all will carry on as they see fit.
