getting lightroom to print 2 8x10s side by side

I have a roll of 17" paper (canson baryta) and would like to print pairs of 8x10s in the portrait orientation. Can Lightroom do this?

Use custom Package option in the top right panel of the Print Tab. Drag photos from the image previews at the bottom of your screen into the print preview window and arrange them however you like. Make sure page setup is correctly set to the kind of roll you are using.

well, this is what i set up in LR

and this is the result

The hand cut edge on the left is the edge of the roll paper that came out first. The glass case and the scissors laying on the print represent the left and right edges of the roll.
Not what i was expecting. From the screen in LR, I thought I was going to get two images side by side but LR printed them in sequence.

Please post a screen shot of the settings in the LR Print Module.

well, all I did was make a new paper size in 'user defined' at 17" width and 11" height.
now i get what i want

the middle pic is the 'settings' of the LR print module. Only the top half is in the screen shot, the lower half has nothing relevant.
From what I see, the printer squirts out the top of the LR screen first and continues to print the same way that the display rasters the screen image- from top to bottom.
