I'm documenting this to possibly prevent somebody else going down the same rabbit hole.
My 17" printer died, leaving me a box of 17"x25" semi-gloss paper. I checked the custom paper size limits in the Pro-100 printer driver, stated I could go as long as 26.61 inches. So I did the obvious, trimmed 4" off of a sheet of the paper, ending up with a 13" x 25" portion.
Found an appropriate image, set up a custom paper size in the Pro-100 printer driver, 13x25, and hit the print button. Started up ok, but before actual printing commenced the driver threw a message, paraphrased, illegal media type and paper size combination, change one or the other and try again. Same result for both the rear tray (sheet feed capable) and manual feed tray. I tried several media types, same message.
After some head scratching I found the following buried deep in the bowels of the online manual:
You can print on non-standard size paper within the following ranges.
rear tray
- Minimum size: 3.50 x 5.00 inches (89.0 x 127.0 mm)
- Maximum size: 12.95 x 26.61 inches (329.0 x 676.0 mm)
manual feed tray
- Minimum size: 8.00 x 10.00 inches (203.2 x 254.0 mm)
- Maximum size: 14.00 x 23.00 inches (355.6 x 584.2 mm)
Sure enough, after defining a custom paper size of 12.95" x 25" I was able to print my image thru the rear tray.
Any theories as to the origin of this constraint?
