Foggy coast
« on: September 10, 2018, 04:36:19 am »

Sometimes, fog comes in and lasts for a couple of days. Not good for beach goers, but good for taking somewhat different photos.

Regards.

Missed seeing these locations Paulo. Would love to be exploring the layers in two. How high does the tide rise. Are the faces locked in by it? Have you identified any of the layers? Really love seeing these locations of yours.

Thanks Patricia. Indeed this coast never looks the same, regardless of how many times you return. And I am lucky enough to visit several times per year. This time it was in August 25th, and the day was completely foggy. These are Palaeozoic schists and turbidites, all folded, that give this strong character to the rock faces.

Here is one example of the same place a few years back, with higher tide.

Fog transforms places and make them look mystical. I like the first and last shot of the first set a  lot, they are less busy. I also like the last one with the purple sky.
Well done!

Lovely set. The first and last are special. Was this in Algarve?

Thanks Rajan. Not Algarve, this bit of coast is still part of Alentejo province.

In the first set I like one and three. How far does it take you to get to the coast?

Thanks. I suppose it depends on your starting point? This are is part of the "Parque Natural do Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina", which extends from Sines to Sagres, in the prvinces of Alentejo and Algarve.

From Lisbon to Sines is about a 2h drive. If you start from Faro (nearest airport) is about 1h to Sagres.
