Does the Park Service still plan to open the Valley tomorrow (Tuesday)?

Yes.  Conditions are improving and most of the fire is contained.

Dramatic California fire scenes are shown in the article below:

Wildfires are raging through California, destroying everything in their wake. As of Aug. 9, 2018, the Mendocino Complex Fire, which includes the River Fire and the Ranch Fire, is considered the state's largest wildfire on record, burning through 305,152 acres of land, with just 52 percent of it contained.

So as is common some Australia firefighters were in the US recently helping with regard to the recent fires in WA.  They were shot at:

Apparently the shooters were issued fines for being within an exclusion zone, but not for fire scoped weapons in the direction of highly visible firefighters.  WTF?

Fires are not the only incendiaries these days. The slow burn and acid destruction of the human spirit seems all too much the norm, and the self permissions for these behaviours seems to follow in close proximity. This is not the world I'd have chosen for our grandchildren, and yet hope springs. Such a small speck we are on the curve, but so painful to see this use of our short tenure.
