A list of Z model specific and non-specific parts would be handy.
A trial version;

Head carriage boards differ per model (8/12 inks = 4/6 heads) and a difference between the Z3100 and Z3200 by the RED ink difference. Not the heads slots, check is electronically on the Red versus Chromium Red head chip.
Formatter harddiscs (at least the content) differ for every model; Plain versus PS, 24" versus 44"?, Z3100 versus Z 3200 (A versus B)
Formatter mainboard that carries the harddisc?
Power unit?
The right side cartridge slots Z3100 versus Z3200 as the Red ink cartridge plastic keys differ. May be solved by cutting them off on the cart. Cartridge chip is most likely read somewhere else.
Service station per 8/12 inks = 4/6 heads.
Belts per printer width.

(More) Universal;
Print Mech board
Spectrometer most likely
12 ink head carriage usable for both Z3100 and Z3200
Lots of the head carriage and media transport mechanism parts if printer width does not play a role.

Comments and additions are welcome.

Met vriendelijke groet, Ernst

Why don’t we buy the refillable ink carts for the Z3100 red channel and / or refill the original Z3100 carts with the chromatic red. This has been possible for several years. Would there be some issue with the spectrometer software? Don’t see why the i1 couldn’t handle a little more saturation.

HP tech support didn't steer me wrong - they were the ones that put me straight actually.   Without them I wouldn't have gotten my printer working.   But the parts suppliers (my parts as I wrote were shipped from HP direct but not bought directly through HP) were incorrect about the print mech board needing to be paired. Buying parts directly from HP is really expensive!

But through it all I did learn a trick - if you tell HP support that you bought parts from them they will pass you onto a technician even if your printer is out of warranty. :-)

I bought my Z3200 at the beginning of February from B&H and just checked the HP website to see the warranty status of the printer. Everything was fine, warranty expires Feb 28, 2019. I also called HP (twice just to be sure) and they told me that I have until the end of the first year to by a CarePak extended warranty. You don't have to do it within 30 days of purchase. Important to note is that the extended warranties include the first year, so that a 3yr warranty is 2 additional years, a 5yr warranty is 4 additional years, etc.

That is good to know you confirmed that John. I'm going to buy the three year next week. So, it's only two years, funny. It's a good price though compared to Canon and Epson. The Hp guy in Costa Rica told me something different. He told me I should buy the warranty right before my original one runs out. He said I would loose the months remaining on my first warranty so I would only have 2 years and 9 nine months if I renewed it now as mine ends June first. So I'm confused as to which is correct. Anyway I'm going to by the three year, it's a good deal. My repair techs here in Atlanta are good and I trust them totally if I need them.
