I never thought these kind of pictures would work in B/W, but this one really does. Very well indeed.

Thanks all. Part of the effect comes from post-processing. I raised the contrast to make the branches stand out, and I added a bit of vignetting to bring the point of interest close to the center of the picture. I've been shooting color with digital for eighteen years now, and it's fun to get back to my first love -- B&W.
