A quick question about Pictorico Film
« on: August 13, 2018, 11:28:57 pm »

I am making some small and medium size prints on Pictorico White Inkjet film and Clear Inkjet film
I would like to show them without glass, the material is very flimsy.
How would you mount it to a substrate to show?
Can I dry mount to a board with my heat press without melting it?
Can I just glue the back to a piece of gatorboard?

I tried to hold flat by the corners and the whole thing display waves on the surface

The surface is easily scratched. I found the best way to display it is as face mounted acrylic. I can't imagine any safe way to display it without protection even with a heavy overspray.

I have a client that loves the stuff. The mounting can be a nightmare.
No wet adhesives and definitely no heat, it does melt.
The only thing that has worked for us is gatorboard and print mount ultra.
We do it by hand as the surface is too delicate even for the laminator. Still not a perfect mounted surface everytime.
Dye ink on Ilfords high gloss or Pictorico Hi-gloss is as close to cibachrome as you can get.
The only thing that really works is face mounting these to acrylic but you lose that special look. Looks like just another paper once it is on the acrylic.
