Have not printed borderless on this particular Pro-1000 yet, but noticed today some quite saturated ink spills at the bottom / platen, outside requested print areas. See attached photos.
Soaking some of it up, it seems to be black. If printing borderless you can normally see different colors picked up from the platen sponge, but I can only spot black here (of course other colors can easily hide in there).
Wondering why it decides to dump a lot of ink outside requested paper print areas. If cleaning the platen, it should use CO, and if general head cleaning is required, I would prefer it dumping ink in it's head parking/cleaning position and draining to the maintenance cartridge like normally.
Can anyone confirm this is to be expected given the described usage (no borderless printing yet). Or comment if Canon has been made aware of this.
Edit: Could it be needed to make such outside paper ink dumps during printing to keep the nozzles clean while printing a single sheet?
