Z3200PS hangs when nesting...
« on: December 18, 2017, 08:05:45 am »

...and not only won't print but stops responding to input from the computer AND the front panel.  I have to switch it off on the back to restart.  when visiting the cue either on the front panel or the computer the printer hangs again.  This happens when printing from Photoshop and HP Utility.
This is a Rev A printer that HP replaced the formatter in just prior to their cancelling all support on Rev A machines.
Any thoughts?

Total print page size, 300 or 600 PPI input requested, 44"or 24" printer, Windows or Mac ????

Sheets or rolls?

In event logs, any error messages?

How long ago was the formatter replaced?

I'm on a Mac printing 600 dpi proofs that are nesting 3 across on 36" paper.  all was going well until I ran out of paper during one of the prints.  The printer said to load more paper but I was out of 36" so I loaded a 24" roll knowing there were still files in the cue waiting to print (and probably nested for 36" paper).
Something told me to clear the cue and re-print them so they would nest for 24" but it was late and I was tired.
That is the action that I think brought it down.

Your best bet is to follow these instructions carefully in order.

Go into Job Queue in the printer and delete that particular job.

Restart both the printer and your computer.
When you turn off the printer, turn it off from the panel.  Go to back of machine, turn on off switch to off, then unplug both the power cord and the LAN cable.
Leave it all unplugged for a half hour

UNLOAD the paper.

Bring the printer up and back on by plugging only the power cord in, then switch the printer on at the back.

Before connecting the LAN cable back up, go back into job Queue and make sure that job was actually deleted.

Then, just plug in the LAN cable.  Shortly it will be back with its' IP address again.

Print something small and easy first, then go bigger.

Leaving it unplugged for a half hour resets the printer.

Good luck -
