I'm looking for a single lens solution for wide to mid-range for video.

I know people that swear by the (pricey) 24-70mm ll L lens.

I'm interested in the 24-105mm STM lens because of its (apparently) quieter focusing.

I will be using an on camera RODE mic a lot.

There are also comparable zooms from Sigma and Tamron.

So, what's my best combination in terms of optics and silent focusing?

Weather sealing is not an issue for me; just sound and image quality.

Thanks.

What body are you pairing it with?  Yes, the 24-70 II is a go to, but are you relying on the DPAF or manually focusing?  Are you going to be pulling focus as well?  Will you be tracking people moving thru a scene?

Thanks for the reply and apologies for the delay in my reply.

I use a 5D Mark IV.

Thanks.
