Expired epson carts still good ?

Epson 324 inks for Surecolor p400

I've been offered 1 year past expiry date (June 2018) unopened new Epson carts at a really good price. I'm particularly interested in a few of the Matte Black πas I do a lot of b/w.

Would they still be good, or what are the risks ?

I suspect that pigments possibly separate in the ink but perhaps some shaking of the cart would get it all mixed up again?

Does anyone has experience or a link to share?

Go for it, I say.  Inks "expiring" is another way to generate artificial scarcity, IMHO

I was worried about the lines or head getting clogged.
Thanks for reassurance that a shake should make them good as new

Gentle agitation. You just want to stir up the pigments (assuming that they have settled)  I have translucent refillable carts on my Epson 9800 and I've never seen evidence of settling out.  Nor in the half litre translucent bottles which store my bulk ink.

You can surely use expired inks.  As long as they are stored in a decent temp room (in storage or shelf or what not), the pigment will be fine.  If the temp is between big changes (like 30* and 80*) over a long time frame, they may affect the chemicals and it's a "chance" of working properly.  Realistically, the expiration is just printed on boxes for probably legal purposes and isn't needed otherwise.

We've sold 9600 inks a few years ago and that model has been discontinued for about 10 years.  The customers didn't call us back to complain that they didn't work, so there is proof from one source :)

Thank you. It seems that I can buy expired carts with confidence.
