We love Utah. We moved from Germany to Utah in July of 2014 and the southwest has been this photographer's dream. The drama of the wide open places, the booming mountains and endless diversity is just about impossible to match. But there are times. Times when I miss the power of quiet streams and restrained beauty to be discovered like gold in a river. There are times I miss the emptiness of small places and the moments of contemplation. With this in mind sometimes one can allow themselves to look back to this time of yesteryear that seems SO long ago, a short season that really one thought would never end...but all things end, even if we never know the true beginning. On this snowy Sunday in April, we were in Bavaria, Germany, Spring break and made the drive down from Ramstein. Who doesn't love Bavaria, the old country, where tradition still rules and even other Germans from outside of the area are viewed as "different". And Bavaria is definitely different, striking mountains and beauty that moves the soul. And Eibsee is a jewel of a lake, at the base of the Zugspitze mountain. On this quiet morning I was greeted with the deafening silence of softly falling snow. As it should be.
