Hi Doug,

Thanks for the updates.

Is there already a table to be found comparing the IQ1 and IQ3?

Thank you.

Cheers,
Bernard

So glad you asked! I just so happen to have made one just for this occasion...

Phase One IQ1 100mp vs IQ3 100mp

Thanks Doug. ;)

It is nice to see that P1 is becoming more aware about the importance of price for some buyers.

Cheers,
Bernard

Does IQ1-100 means that the back can now work on Mamiya AFD & P1DF/+ cameras?  Are there other mounts for third party platforms provided?

The Phase One IQ3 100mp and Phase One IQ1 100mp, and all other IQ backs work on the P1 DF+ camera.

Both backs are available in H mount (for H1,H2, H4X, H5X) or M mount (for DF/DF+/XF) and have built in batteries and sync inputs to allow use on tech cameras such as the newly announced Cambo Wide RS1600 or any other Cambo/Arca/Alpa/etc tech/view body.

Well that sucks, just got the 150 2.8 less than a month ago since the 150 3.5 was a big disappointment.

That's bad timing! Speak with your dealer, maybe they can help.

Check out the raw files linked to at the bottom of here: Schneider 150LS Blue Ring Raw Files - it's a beast.

Any word on how speedy its autofocus is?

I'll have to wait until final production units ship around November to give a complete/definitive answer. We should have them at our NYC and LA offices before then, and I assume your dealer will have one local to you as well.

Earlier today one of the lens raw files was mistakingly left out of our public raw catalog. That has now been corrected.

Than you for the comparison, Doug.
"break" in the second para with the car analogy should be "brake" unless you really mean "break" in the sense of "breakdown".

Also, the asterisked note at the end of the comparison states that one sensor unit has improved performance for long exposures but you do not state which one. Would you please identify the sensor unit with the improved performance in this area.

That line reads "*The IQ3 60mp and IQ3 80mp sensors differ from their IQ1 counterparts. Performance at short shutter speeds (e.g. 1/60th) is very similar, but performance for long exposures (e.g. 90 seconds) is dramatically improved." – is further clarification needed?

No correction is required, Doug. I had read your comment as referring to the two 100MP backs but I now see the comment is between the IQ3 and IQ1 sensors mentioned and it is clear which ones you say have the improved performance.

Thanks for sharing Doug.

I think it's a pity the capture from Live view is disabled.  This would be rather handy for some...think Universalis or Actus with a non tech lens on it (Canon 24 or 17)

Other than that, I think it's starting to perhaps work a little more for those of us that don't use a phase body or need all of the XF features.

There is more to come. But that is not for today :).

Listened in on the P1 webinar today to find out some more info related to the 150mm and was hoping for an announcement regarding new features for the XF, but that we have to wait a bit longer for unfortunately.

But my god, the new 150mm is YUUUGE. Over 1.6kg in weight! And a little bit slower autofocus than the 150 3.5 apparently. For portrait work, I would at least like to have the illusion that I might switch to handheld. Dear sweet baby jesus.

And I was not happy with the 150 3.5 autofocus either. The old 150mm 2.8 is a winner, so it looks like I made a good choice after all. I'll take the sucky sync speed as a tradeoff. :)

Drake,

Just curious, what were your concerns with the 150LS 3.5?  The 150 LS 2.8 at 7K, is not happening for me.  Schneider/Phase One sadly has taken the newer lenses into the stratosphere for pricing, only still have a 1 year warranty (unless you happen to get a lens when you purchase a new back which is not an upgrade)

I don't need the F2.8 speed and the size/weight of the 150mm LS 3.5 seems to be a better carry lens in the field.

Thanks

My concerns with the 150 3.5 LS was primarily slow autofocus coupled with the long focusing distance (1.5m). Sharpness was also in favour of the old 2.8 especially when you got a bit off center.

The old 150 2.8 is a dream in comparison with 1m close focusing distance and an autofocus that is snappy and on target almost 100% of the time despite shallow DoF on an XF. I shoot people primarily so these are top concerns for me.

The new f/2.8 lens focuses significantly closer (100cm, 3 feet and a couple inches).
