Thanks Bob,

I am still on track for making fine art prints. The question was whether to get an inexpensive printer to help me to learn to do this before buying an expensive one. The idea might have merits, but it could complicate the process a bit. I am presently inclined to go straight to the more expensive printer of my choice.

One of these days I will rewrite the ten steps based on what I have learned here. Keith's point by point reply was especially helpful

A post script. Have been working away on soft proofing and while there is still a lot to learn and I am still getting the technical stuff sorted, I am going to take advantage of November discounts to get a P800. Read the suggestions provided again, and am reminded of their wisdom.
