Photoshop CC - invert selection does not work
« on: April 19, 2016, 05:28:16 pm »

At least on this image. I made a selection on one layer then Select > Inverse and nothing happens, the selection stays the same. Ideas?

Are you sure? It's easy to be fooled.

Assume you have the image displayed such that the edges are not visible (100%).

Make a small selection in the center, visible portion of the image. See marching ants.

Invert the selection, see the same marching ants! But the edges you can't see now also have marching ants. The selection is inverted, the marching ants in the center now show what is EXCLUDED from the selection.

That's why it may help to save the selection. Before/after inverting a layer/mask, it is visually obvious what is selected and if it has changed.

Cheers,

Or just tap the "Q" key to toggle the ruby overlay of the selection.

AHA!! Thank you for solving my problem.
