Light on the Water
« on: January 13, 2016, 08:46:57 pm »

Taken on the James River near downtown Richmond, VA last Sunday evening. This is a multi-image composite taken with a Nikon D800 using a Sigma 50mm ART lens which I am really starting to enjoy.

Excellent light, texture, and splash of colour in the water. I find the branches on the right a bit distracting.

Great spectacle with lots of potential. The composition, however, does not show a clear subject. It may have been more effective to use a longer focal length and concentrate on a selected area, giving dominance to the light on the water.

I agree. Lovely little splashes of light though!

I like this photo but I join the previous posters about the lack of a strong subject or lines or geometry.

Thanks for the replies everyone! While I'm very enamored of the light, I agree about the weakness in the composition.
